Cyberpunk 2077 hotfix addresses game-breaking bug introduced in previous patch

A hotfix for Cyberpunk 2077, pushed out Thursday morning, resolves a game-breaking bug in the main quest line that Friday’s patch 1.1 had introduced.

Hotfix 1.11, now available on all platforms, patches out the glitch in the “Down on the Street” mission. In that job, the player waits for a holocall from the NPC Takemura before meeting with them. The bug prevented that call from taking place; Takemura would ring up the player, and then just stare at them, saying nothing.

The glitch meant players couldn’t continue with the mission, which is part of Cyberpunk 2077’s core story. CD Projekt was made aware of the glitch shortly after patch 1.1 rolled out, and gave players a four-step workaround in the meantime, but it wasn’t guaranteed to work.

Thursday’s hotfix resets the game’s item randomization to its state prior to the 1.1 update, too. The patch had also introduced a save/load loot exploit, which CD Projekt Red said is still being investigated.

Cyberpunk 2077 version 1.1 launched on all platforms on Friday. It included a slew of fixes for the game’s quests (including, supposedly, a problem with Takemura not calling the player at all in the “Down on the Street” mission). The patch also delivered other stability and performance improvements for all versions of the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 runs best on Windows PC or a newer (post-2015) last-generation console, but its performance on original Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems brought a detailed apology from CD Projekt Red and its parent company, and promises of extensive post-release support to shore up the game. Patch 1.1 was part of that plan; patch 1.2, a “larger, more significant update,” is due in the coming weeks, CD Projekt Red says.
