Epic Games announced on Wednesday that Fortnite Chapter 2 season 3 has been delayed once again. The season is scheduled to start on June 17, for now.
This is season 3’s third delay. It was first delayed back in April, then it was delayed for another week on May 28. Fortnite also had an event that was previously scheduled for Saturday, May 6, that has now been pushed back to Monday, June 15. Previous delays had been to make sure that the season was ready for launch.
According to a statement released by Epic along with the announcement, this time the delay is due to “recent events,” which Epic says, “are a heavy reminder of ongoing injustices in society, from the denial of basic human rights to the impact of racism both overt and subtle against people of color.”

Epic doesn’t specify what these “recent events” are and what “overt and subtle” acts of racism it is referring to, but it is likely a reference to the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police officers in Minnesota on May 25. Since then, thousands of Americans have protested police violence and racism in cities all across the country. However, while Epic does mention racism in its statement, it does not mention any of the other things directly.
