The Club Atlético Boca Juniors, one of the most popular sports clubs in Argentina with an international brand known all over the world, announced Friday that it is entering esports in 2021. The first rosters confirmed by the organization are for League of Legends (LoL) and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO).
Boca Juniors said on its website that it will enter the most popular leagues and competitions of the region and that the move marks a new stage for the club. Players are to be announced in the following days.
The entrance of Boca Juniors into esports draws special attention to the scene, as it is one of the biggest sports brands in Latin America. It joins its main rival, Club Atlético River Plate, which is the second most popular club in Argentina and also has a strong brand worldwide, already fielding rosters in both LoL and CS:GO.
