NFL team the Baltimore Ravens announced Monday a new gaming and esports initiative aimed at fans called the Ravens Gaming League. The Ravens Gaming League will host tournaments and other events for fans, starting with a Fortnite tournament June 25-27, and a Madden NFL tournament “later this summer.”
To facilitate this new initiative, the Ravens also announced a multi-year partnership with Esports Entertainment Group (EEG) to serve as its official esports tournament provider. The tournaments will be run through EEG’s tournament platform, Esports Gaming League.
Financial terms of the deal with EEG were not disclosed.
The Ravens join a growing list of professional sports teams that see the value in gaming and support either full-blown esports teams that compete professionally or initiatives that target gaming audiences.
