BDS Esports officially sign French squad Opportunists

BDS Esports has officially signed the French team Opportunists. BDS sign Opportunists off the back of their recent run at the VALORANT Champions Tour. The team was a semi finalist at Challengers 1 in the second stage and made a deep run at Masters 1. They were the last team knocked out of their group; defeated by Challengers Playoff attendees Guild Esports and FunPlus Phoenix.

The now-BDS Esports squad is a top team in the European region. They are ranked in the top four by vlr.gg. The newly-signed team will represent their new organization at Challengers 2 on April 16 against Ninjas in Pyjamas. The move was first reported by 1pv.fr in late March.

The team before BDS that signed Opportunists

Before they were recruited by BDS Esports, Opportunists had been signed with Defuse Team. After the team’s run in First Strike, the deal was inked in November of 2020. They made it to the round of 32 in the major event. But, they would part ways with the organization and release a statement the said Defuse “has not kept its obligations towards its players.”

The statement came just one day after the team qualified for Masters. They beat European powerhouse G2 Esports and then made their run in Group B. Before Team Defuse, Opportunist was an amateur team with four French players and now-Team Vitality in-game leader Bayram “bramz” Ben Redjeb. The Tunisian player left for Vitality in September of 2020 and Alex “AKUMAAAAA” Lo Bello came onto the team.

The team is mostly former Counter-Strike players but they do have Dylan “hoppY” Aube from Fortnite. Other members, Rodolphe “rodeN” Bianco and Logan “logaN” Corti, played for Team LDLC in Counter-Strike before their switch to VALORANT. Alex “AKUMAAAAA” Lo Bello and Jonathan “TakaS” Paupard dabbled in the Valve shooter as well, although not on established teams.
