Apex Legends Season 5 has seen its fair share of changes to the legend lineup. From Pathfinder receiving a nerf to Mirage becoming relevant, Season 5 features a wide variety of usable characters. However, one that is still not viable is the surveillance expert, Crypto. Released in Season 3, Crypto has never truly been a popular legend beside his launch day since his abilities just don’t compare to the rest of the legends lineup. Fortunately for Crypto mains, a buff is incoming for the character, according to a Respawn Entertainment developer.

Crypto buff arriving in Apex Legends Season 5?
Besides a few speed bumps in the road, Season 5 of Apex Legends has been relatively smooth. Fans are loving the map changes and a wider variety of weapons and legends to use. Respawn is also updating the game more so than in the past, which is great to see.
Of course, improvements can always be made, and what better improvement could be implemented than a buff to Crypto? Arguably the weakest character in Apex Legends, Crypto is rarely a selection even in casual playlists, as it’s hard to justify selecting him over someone like Wraith or Wattson.
However, that soon may change, according to Jason McCord of Respawn Entertainment. A design director for the company, McCord often communicates with fans about upcoming updates in Apex Legends. He did the same with a fan on Twitter asking for a buff to Crypto.
@MonsterclipRSPN when is crypto going to get a buff because as a crypto main I feel like he can be a liability having to tap into his drone everytime he needs to scout
We are talking about stuff. Still a ways out probably, but agree that he needs something!
While there’s no timetable for the buff, McCord does specify that it’s “a ways out.” Whether this means later in Season 5 or at the start of Season 6 is unclear, but Crypto mains are just happy to hear a buff is in the works. If done correctly, this update to the legend could pole vault him into viability.
