Dota 2 patch 7.26 has been released in part with only three changes implemented. The patch notes say that once these changes settle down a bit, item and hero changes for the patch will be brought in. So what are the three changes that have been introduced? Let’s take a look.
(1) Attributes no longer provide Magic Resistance, Spell Amplification and Movement Speed for Strength, Intelligence and Agility respectively.
Huge change, that will straight away bring down the value of stat heavy items like Butterfly, Heart of Tarrasque and Eye of Skadi. Movement speed maybe was not the biggest of deals, but the magic resistance from strength and the spell amplification from intelligence played important roles in the builds for a lot of heroes. A lot of builds will now have to go back to the drawing board.
(2) Gold bounties reduced by 10% (affects buildings, lane creeps, neutrals and heroes).
The meta right now is such that a lot of games, especially pub games, end up being short games succumbing to a deathball lineup. Heroes like Lycan, Beastmaster and Pugna hit their timings early in the game and relentlessly push to finish the game withing 25 minutes. This change will slow the game down right from the laning stage, ensuring all fast paced lineups will have a tougher task ahead of them. If it were just buildings or heroes, it would have not been the biggest of deals. But any and all bounty being reduced by 10% will push back item times and provide more time for slower lineups to come online.
(3) Kill streak gold is reduced by 50%
Dota 2 patch 7.25 increased kill streak gold quite a bit and it was leading to some insane gold gains in the game, especially in the early game for killing supports with kill streaks. With it being reduced to half, the kill streak gold is now even less than what it was before patch 7.25. The streak gold for ending a ‘Killing Spree’ has gone down from 200 gold to a 100 gold and for ending ‘Beyond Godlike’ spree has gone down from 700 gold to 350 gold. The graph below shows the change to kill streak gold that patch 7.26 makes.
Part 2 of Dota 2 patch 7.26 is yet to come, with the changes to items and heroes. When that is released, VPEsports will have all the changes of the patch analyzed. Till then, enjoy the newer and slower Dota 2.
