As announced by DreamHack earlier this morning, the upcoming DreamHack events are being moved to summer. DreamHack Dallas, which was originally planned for the end of May, is being moved to the end of August. Similarly, DreamHack Summer is being moved from mid-June to the start of August. Although the move is precautionary, it was not a decision taken lightly. Refunds will be offered to those who already purchased tickets but aren’t able to attend the events at a later date. An unfortunate side effect of the date change is the cancellation of DreamHack Masters for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO).

A change of venue
While the venue for DreamHack Dallas stays the same, the DreamHack Summer organizers were forced to change the location. The event will now take place at the Elmia Exhibition and Convention Centre in Jönköping, Sweden. It is meanwhile unclear what will happen with the Masters, with the organizers currently evaluating the available options.
Last year’s DreamHack Masters took place in Malmö, Sweden at two different venues. The group stage was played at the MalmöMässan Exhibition Center, with the playoffs being played at the Malmö Arena. Fnatic took home the first place trophy along with a direct seed to IEM Katowice 2020.
SSBM European Circuit Grand Finals, Hearthstone Masters Tour, and more
The announcement also featured some information on esports events happening at the conventions. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate European Circuit Grand Finals and the Hearthstone Masters Tour are promised for Summer, while Dallas will supposedly feature a StarCraft II Masters as well as a fighting games competition. However, fans will most likely be upset by the cancellation of the CSGO event, which amasses a large crowd every year. Hopefully, the organizers will be able to find a replacement date once the COVID-19 situation settles down.
