DreamHack, a tournament organization brand of ESL Gaming, announced Monday the return of its DreamHack Open Featuring Fortnite tournament series for 2021. Also, while the series events will be played in a duos format, there will also be a ”best of the best” Cash Cup Extra Presented by DreamHack competition played in teams of three. Altogether, both Fortnite initiatives will have a combined prize pool of more than $900K USD.
The season will have a competitive calendar that competes in the spring, summer, and fall, with a $200K prize pool for each. The first event will begin in May with exact dates to be announced.
This means that those wishing to compete will have 18 events in 2021 with a prize purse above $17K for each event. The events will be spread throughout the year.
Competitors will also see invitational events where top players from the European and North American East Trios Cash Cups can advance to the Cash Cup Extra Presented by DreamHack. Cash Cup Extra Presented by DreamHack is a merit-based event featuring top performing players of the week.
