Gamers.Vote, VENN and MTV host celebrity Fall Guys event – Esports Insider

Game entertainment and news network VENN, together with MTV’s “Vote For Your Life,” and the non-profit, non-partisan organisation Gamers.Vote, have announced “Fall-o’-Ween,” a five-hour show and celebrity Fall Guys tournament that encourages American gamers to vote.

The live-streamed event will be hosted on VENN’s network on October 23rd 2020, to coincide with the inaugural “Early Voting Day” in the United States on October 24th.

“Fall-‘o-Ween” marks the first partnership between VENN and MTV. VENN on-camera stars Chrissy Costanza and Daniel ‘dGon’ Gonzalez will host and cast the event, which aims to encourage gamers to vote in the 2020 Presidential election.

“Fall-‘o’Ween” will have a number of celebrity cameos including actress Felicia Day, music performers Wallows, and Tee Grizzley. A 40-player Fall Guys tournament will headline the event with teams led by 100 Thieves, Dignitas, NBA stars, and more. Teams participating in the event will compete for $40,000 (~£30,800) in prizes for their charity of choice.

“We wanted the charity event to be fun and not too serious,” Gamers.Vote CEO Christie St. Martin told Esports Insider. “Fall Guys is a fun way to [do that]. We had a lot of success with our previous Fall Guys event and people enjoy playing. Media Tonic has been wonderful and supportive of us using in our events which is awesome.”

Gamers.Vote cites recent data from the Pew Research Center that half of all US adults play video games, which translates to over 133 million potential voters.

Ariel Horn, Co-CEO of VENN, commented on the partnership in a release saying: “The VENN production teams are responsible for some of the most important tentpole global events in gaming and esports history. “Partnering with MTV and their rich legacy of social impact initiatives, and Gamers.Vote and their critical cause of encouraging early turnout is both an honour and a commitment we take seriously.”

Erika Soto Lamb, Vice President of Social Impact at MTV added: “For decades now, MTV has led the charge to mobilize young people to channel their passion into action during critical times for our country. The 2020 election is no different so we’re innovating and expanding our reach by partnering with VENN and Gamers.Vote to meet young people where they are to make sure the engaged and passionate gaming community is ready to ‘Vote for Your Life’ ahead of Vote Early Day.”

Esports Insider says: Gaming is a massive demographic that could make a real difference to the polls. Gamers.Vote is non-partisan, meaning it doesn’t tell or guide people in regards to who to vote for. In today’s world of online screaming matches, seeing influential groups come together for the sake of democracy and not particular candidates is refreshing.
