The New York Subliners has officially revealed who will be joining the main roster in place of Thomas “ZooMaa” Paparatto. ZooMaa announced on Jan. 19 that he would be stepping away from Call of Duty due to a thumb injury. Conor “Diamondcon” Johst joins the New York Subliners main roster from their academy team. He was previously on Triumph, an amateur team that won the 2020 Call of Duty Challengers for North America. Diamondcon was a critical part of Triumph’s success and NYA’s recent success at the 4th Challengers cup.
Diamondcon has been in professional Call of Duty since late 2018 when he played for an amateur team known as “Reign.” He then bounced between several different teams before eventually landing on Triumph and then New York Subliners.
While New York Subliners have decided who would replace ZooMaa, Diamondcon’s place on academy has yet to be filled. However, with many professionals out of a job due to format changes, New York has several replacement options. Most franchised teams also do not have an official academy roster, which means more players to sign within the scene.
New York Subliners face off against Dallas Empire
New York Subliners will return to the Call of Duty League during the Kickoff Classic which begins January 23. The opening match for the Kickoff Classic is between the Champions, Dallas Empire, and New York. This season’s New York Subliners’ roster consists of three rookies and one veteran. That veteran, James “Clayster” Eubanks has been known to make rookie teams successful. However, the first match against Dallas Empire is a hard ask for any team currently.
Dallas was the only team in the league to not add new players to their existing roster. All four members previously played together and won the 2020 CDL Championship. Despite the tough first match, many fans are excited to see how the rookies perform alongside Clayster. You can catch the Kickoff Classic matches via YouTube at 3 p.m. ET/12 p.m. PT.
