The Season 2 Reloaded update in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a blessing for many multiplayer weapons. Guns like the Milano 821, Krig 6 and others are now considered the top dogs after receiving heavy buffs. However, the RPD pole-vaulted to the top of multiplayer despite not receiving a similar buff.
Light machine guns are arguably some of the best weapons in any Call of Duty title. Although, the Stoner 63 was simply too overpowered prior to the Season 2 Reloaded update. Treyarch nerfed that weapon, allowing the RPD to take its place as the king of the light machine guns.
Now, fans are scrambling to find the best RPD loadout in order to fulfill the void left by the Stoner 63.
Best RPD loadout in Black Ops Cold War
As the RPD is a light machine gun at the end of the day, it can’t really match up with SMGs or shotguns at close range. It can absolutely beam enemies at medium to long range. This is where the weapon succeeds the most so, naturally, the recommended loadout focuses on these areas.
There are some attachments that can help with closer range gunfights. The RPD possesses decent mobility for an LMG so it’d be wise to take advantage of it at the very least.

- Optic: Millstop Reflex
- Muzzle: Spetsnaz Compensator
- Barrel: 20.3″ Task Force
- Magazine: Salvo 125 RND Fast Mag
- Handle: Spetsnaz Field Grip
This well-balanced RPD loadout will be able to handle most situations in Black Ops Cold War. It features terrific vertical recoil control from the Spetsnaz Compensator, extra damage from the 20.3″ Task Force barrel and increased flinch resistance from the Spetsnaz Field Grip.
Additionally, the Spetsnaz Field Grip increases the RPD’s ADS time. While the ADS time is lowered with the Salvo 125 RND Fast Mag, the Spetsnaz Field Grip fully offsets this. Also, 125 bullets and reloading quicker are two huge bonuses for any LMG. Staying back at medium to long-range is definitely the way to go with this RPD loadout.
