VCT Game Changers first announced its expansion to EMEA in September, after initially launching in North America. The series’ first season consists of three tournaments, the first of which concluded earlier this month.

Jessany Van’t Hoff, Head of Global Gaming Partnerships for HyperX, commented: “At HyperX we celebrate and empower all gamers to be their best. The VALORANT Game Changers tournament is an incredible initiative that lifts all women to the forefront of competitive gaming, an area that needs to be improved to ensure inclusivity in gaming and esports.

“We’re proud to support the VALORANT Game Changers series in EMEA and look forward to witnessing the next generation of a more gender-equal esport.”

Following the conclusion of VCT Game Changers EMEA Series #1, Riot Games detailed that the tournament recorded a peak viewership of 21,933 and a total of 49 teams registered for the event.

The series’ second tournament officially kicked off yesterday and will conclude on October 31st. Riot Games has stated that up to 64 all-women teams will compete for the lion’s share of the tournament’s €20,000 (~£16,842) prize pool.

Vera Wienken, Brand Manager DACH at Riot Games, added: “We couldn’t be more proud about our first achievements. It’s awesome seeing these women competing on such a high level and vocalising their dedication and positive feedback publicly.

“We see more and more esports organisations signing talents, which is a huge success and will allow us as a region to thrive together towards a more diverse VALORANT esports ecosystem.”

Esports Insider says: Securing a well-known brand in HyperX is a good sign for VCT Game Changers EMEA and for the VALORANT scene as a whole. The release claims that the partnership aims to take the series ‘to the next level’. Only time will tell whether the deal does so.
