Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Unwelcome Guide

Unwelcome is the ninth main story quest in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and transpires after completing The Swan Road Home. As the name suggests, it has to do with arriving in England and the locals not being very keen to see you.

Unwelcome is a short quest, but it’s a tough one to get through this early in the game. As a result, you might want to consider keeping this Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Unwelcome guide handy to help you complete it as efficiently as possible. Be sure to bookmark our complete Assassin’s Creed Valhalla walkthrough too, which features detailed descriptions of every single story quest in the game. For now though, here’s how to complete Unwelcome in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Unwelcome Guide

After successfully removing the river chain that was blocking your passage in The Swan Road Home, you’ll once again need to board you longboat and head inland. Although you’re ostensibly in search of Halfdan Jarl’s settlement, what you end up coming across is slightly different to what you might expect. As soon as you land at what’s supposedly a Ragnarsson encampment filled with Danes that should be delighted by your arrival, you’ll notice that something is quite clearly amiss.

When you reach the shore, jump off your longboat and inspect the village in front of you. A cutscene will play in which you discover that the people here aren’t Danes at all — they’re English bandits who don’t take kindly to outsiders, and will threaten you and your crew pretty much as soon as you step foot in the village.

Naturally, this leads to a fight. The bandits here are no more difficult than any other enemies you’ve fought so far, plus you have your entire crew with you. If you’re having trouble, focus on evasiveness and defensive tactics while Sigurd and the rest of your crewmates handle all the damage dealing. After you’ve successfully dispatched the bandits, walk over to Sigurd and speak to him. A brief cutscene will play, after which you will be told to head towards the longhouse. To get there, simply follow the main path to the top of the hill. The longhouse is huge compares to the other buildings, so you won’t miss it.

When you arrive at the longhouse, you’ll notice that a noise trap has been set up at the door. Despite what this may look like, there are no hostiles inside, so you can just head straight in. Don’t bother looking for another door or a hole in the roof — make as much noise as you want, as the only two people inside are prisoners who were tied up by the bandits. When you go inside and talk to them, yet another cutscene will play. Untie them and ask them to stay with you and your people — Rowan is a stable boy and Yanli is a merchant, so they’re both valuable allies who will be immensely grateful for you saving them.  Once the cutscene concludes, you’ll have two extra inhabitants for your newly named Ravensthorpe settlement.

This marks the end of the quest and the beginning of the next one: Settling Down.
