Bandai Namco is looking to expand Elden Ring beyond video games and is planning on bringing the franchise to “a variety of other areas.”
In a press release published on the Bandai Namco website, the publisher is planning to bring the Elden Ring franchise to “other areas”, according to CEO Yasuo Miyakawa:
“We will continue to develop Elden Ring not only as a game but also in a variety of other areas in order to deliver the worldview and charm of this title to our fans around the world.”

Miyakawa doesn’t go into what these “areas” could be, but it’s possible he could be alluding to a potential TV show or anime. Several video game properties are getting anime spinoffs including Castlevania and even Far Cry. It’s not out of the question that Bandai Namco would also explore the TV potential of Elden Ring, especially with George R.R. Martin on board to handle the story and lore.
But first, we have to experience Elden Ring the video game before anything else, and Bandai Namco released some extra gameplay details ahead of its launch at the start of next year. Elden Ring will be From Software’s “largest game to date” having players traverse the seamless open-world on horseback. The game will also have a day/night cycle as well as a dynamic weather system.
Also revealed by Bandai Namco is that Elden Ring will also support online multiplayer, although what form it will take is still to be seen. Previous games developed by From Software usually have a unique take on multiplayer, for example, Bloodborne’s insight and the Beckoning Bell system. Whether Elden Ring will have a similar system or a more standard online multiplayer mode is unknown.
In case you missed the announcement, Elden Ring finally got a release date and an extended trailer during Summer Game Fest. The game will launch on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 21st, 2022. People who purchase the game on PS4 and Xbox One will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version for free.
