We already knew the Director’s Cut was bringing a new raid boss and a murder mystery to Borderlands 3, but Gearbox recently dropped a bit more info about the upcoming DLC. When the Director’s Cut arrives on April 8, you’ll have the ability to earn Diamond Keys – an in-game resource that grants you access to an entire room full of loot.
The concept is similar to Golden Keys, which are given to players for checking out Borderlands 3-related social media feeds. Those keys provide access to Golden Chests, which are always loaded with powerful gear. Diamond Keys are the next iteration of the concept, providing you with access to even more loot than Golden Keys.
“Diamond Keys take this idea [of Golden Keys] even further by presenting you with not just a chest but an entire room full of tantalizing loot: the Diamond Armory, which is located beneath the Bridge on Sanctuary III’s upper deck,” Gearbox announced. “Diamond Keys must be earned through gameplay and cannot be purchased individually or separately.”
It’s unclear how exactly you’ll unlock Diamond Keys in-game, although we’d imagine it has something to shooting bad guys in the face.
All told, Diamond Keys will give you four items – one of which is guaranteed to be Legendary. If you’re curious to learn more about the new resource before it arrives on April 8, check out this lengthy blog post from Gearbox.
Fans who pick up the Director’s Cut will have a bunch of new content to mess around with beyond Diamond Keys. The launch date was recently delayed due to power outages throughout Texas, but the DLC will still bring raid boss Hemovorous the Invincible, a murder mystery storyline, three Vault Cards, and behind-the-scenes content.
If you’re itching to get your hands on Borderlands content today, you can always check out Tales from the Borderlands, now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. It’s a bit different from the usual looting and shooting, but it’s a great spinoff title nonetheless.
