Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will cost more on PS5 and Xbox Series X

The next gen versions of the new Call Of Duty are going to be more expensive than the current gen editions confirms Activision.

The next gen versions of Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War seem destined to cost £64.99, as Activision confirm a price rise in the US.

They didn’t mention the UK price but 2K recently revealed that NBA 2K21 will cost £64.99 on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 and that seems almost certain to be the same for Call Of Duty.

The current gen versions are listed as £59.99, which is the same as last year’s game but more than most titles. Only the highest profile games currently demand £60 and it’s likely that will be true for £65 when it comes to the next gen.

By that same logic though it’s likely that £60 will become more commonplace as the standard price for ordinary games next gen, although there’ll probably be a lot of variance depending on the format and title.

It also depends on the publisher though and Ubisoft has already said that its current slate of games, including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Far Cry 6, will be the same price on all consoles.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has three different versions listed for consoles, with the PlayStation 4 standard edition priced at £59.99, the Cross-Gen Bundle at £64.99, and the Ultimate Edition at £89.99.

The Cross-Gen Bundle appears to confirm rumours that Activision will not offer a free upgrade from a current gen version to a next gen edition, although it’s expected you’ll be able to pay for an upgrade separately at a later date.
