For anyone waiting on the new season of Call of Duty to start, there’s been some big news shared today.
Not only can fans expect more zombies actions and maps to play in multiplayer, but there will also be new weapons released.
These new Black Ops Cold War Season 4 guns will be launching throughout the coming weeks, but a lot of focus will be on the changes planned for this week.
As confirmed by Activision earlier this month, Cold War Season 4 is scheduled to start on Jun 17 at around 7am BST.
Black Ops gamers will get the next patch on June 16, which will need to be downloaded across all platforms.
And after a 24-hour wait, all the latest content planned for the two COD games will go live on PS4, Xbox One, PC and next-gen consoles.
So what big meta shifts can we expect this week? According to the Season 4 patch notes, there will be a total of five new weapons released.
Of these new weapons, three will be available on June 17, and one of them will be unlocked through an in-game challenge.
The other two will be available after you make progress through the new Call of Duty Season 4 Battle Pass.
The MG 82: LMG will unlock at Tier 15 on the Battle Pass, meaning it won’t be available straight away to everyone.
But based on past weapons launches, this has a high chance of becoming the new meta weapon.
“Full-auto light machine gun. Highest fire rate in class with improved aiming speed. Moderate recoil and damage with increased ammo capacity.
“Obtain the MG 82 for free and ready to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 15 of the Season Four Battle Pass.”
Having the highest fire rate will make it the go-to weapon for any LMG user, and while it will take a while to level up, it could become a powerful addition.
It all depends on how low the damage rate is and if the COD development team has failed to balance it.
The C58: Assault Rifle is probably the gun that could have the most long-lasting effect on the meta.

Launching on June 17, the C58 won’t be available to wield until you reach Tier 31. And if the new weapon proves to be widely over-powered, that might give the devs enough time to dial it back before everyone has one.
The official blurb reads: “Full-auto assault rifle. High damage at close range with a slower fire rate. Fast bullet velocity and reliable recoil control with less ammo capacity.
“Obtain the C58 for free and ready to use in Black Ops Cold War and Warzone at Tier 31 of the Season Four Battle Pass.”
The last gun is the Nail Gun Special/SMG, which looks set to be unlocked through an in-game challenge.
This sounds like the least impactful of the three but it all depends on how balanced it arrives during Season 4.
“Time to get to work with this fully automatic Nail Gun, a 1980s precursor to the variant seen in the futuristic Black Ops III.
“This slow-firing, highly mobile power tool uses compressed air to launch fast-moving projectiles that deal high damage at close range.
“Expect to put a nail (or three) in your competition’s coffin after three successful hits within a few meters in Multiplayer — or more if the engagement stretches out to distances where you may need to lead shots for success.
The other new weapons will be arriving over the coming weeks and include the following:
OTs 9: SMG (In-Season)
Boasting great stopping power and a phenomenal rate of fire, the OTs 9 is hindered only by its low magazine capacity of 20 rounds.
Those who control its recoil will find it can work well in individual engagements, and with available magazine attachments, it holds its own in squad fights.
Mace: Melee (In-Season)
Get medieval on your enemies with this in-season melee weapon, bringing the available number of hand-to-hand combat tools in Black Ops Cold War to eight, including the Ballistic Knife.
A weapon ill fit for the weak, Mace can inflict critical damage on command — no dice rolls needed on whether it can bludgeon your rivals in a single blow within Multiplayer.
