Call of Duty Modern Warfare update time for HUGE COD Warzone Season 5 patch download

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5 is launching in the next 24-hours and we now know more about when this will be happening for gamers on PC and consoles.

As many already know, the next Call of Duty update will bring Season 5 to Warzone and Modern Warfare multiplayer modes.

Developers Infinity Ward has already revealed plenty about its next update, including that the Verdansk Stadium is going to be open for business.

As part of the Season 5 trailer, it was revealed that the roof was rigged to blow and now boasts a big enough hole for a helicopter to land on the pitch inside.

Not only will there be a vast new area to explore but gamers will also notice a new train making its way around the map.

The rules to this new mode of transport has not been completely revealed but there’s no doubt it could change the flow of a match in several ways.

Away from Warzone, and we know from the recent trailer that plenty of new map are coming to Modern Warfare during Season 5.

This includes two new multiplayer maps, one Gunfight map, one for Ground War, as well as new modes for Warzone.

Other changes have also been hinted at, but gamers will have to wait until the official release time of Warzone Season 5 this week.

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE UPDATE TIME

From what has been shared by gamers who have been able to pre-download COD Season 5, it looks like things are going to be kicking off very late in the United States.

The official Call of Duty Modern Warfare update time looks to have been set for 11pm PT in the United States, on August 4, 2020.

For gamers in the UK, it means the big COD Warzone Season 5 release time will be closer to 7am BST, on August 5.

A message from the COD support team adds a little more context, telling PS4 gamers this week:

“Beginning Sunday, August 2, PlayStation 4 players can pre-download the August update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Warzone, allowing players to avoid updating on the day of release and begin playing immediately after the update goes live on Tuesday, August 4.

“All PlayStation 4 players will be randomly separated into two groups to pre-download.

“The first group will be able to begin pre-downloading on Sunday, August 2, 48 hours before the update goes live.

“The second group will be able to begin pre-downloading on Monday, August 3rd, 24 hours before the update goes live.

“If you have Automatic Downloads enabled on your PlayStation 4, your pre-download will begin automatically as long as your PlayStation 4 is turned on or in Rest Mode. Please note: Automatic Downloads is only available with PlayStation Plus.”

Activision also warns that to pre-download Call of Duty Modern Warfare Season 5, you will need to have enough room for both the June and August version of the game.

The Activision message adds: “To pre-download the update, your PlayStation 4 will need to store the previous update from June and have space for the August update. Approximately 120 GB of free space will be required for the pre-download.”

That’s a tremendous amount of room, although thankfully, the final size for Modern Warfare Season 5 will not be that big.

A message from the Infinity Ward development team adds: “Season 5 is coming soon, and it’s big. With the update, we’re including all the new content for the season as well as optimizing our asset packs.

“This means the download will be big, but the overall size of the game will actually shrink on your consoles after you download the patch, even though we’re adding a bunch of new content for the season.

“It’s a priority for us to keep working on reducing the overall size of MW & WZ on your hard drives, but at the same time also delivering new seasons for everyone to enjoy. we’ll continue to work on this and keep pushing space reductions out with future updates.”

Today’s update by itself, for those who can’t pre-download on Xbox One, will weigh in at around 40GB. Expect more news regarding Modern Warfare Season 5 to be shared in the coming hours by Activision.
