Big changes are coming to Call of Duty Warzone and Black Ops: Cold War, and Activision is starting to share more news on the subject.
Rumours have already revealed that a new Call of Duty Warzone map is coming out, with Verdansk set to undergo major changes.
A new Plague Mode is expected to be released in the coming weeks, but not until several updates have been launched.
This week will see the end of the Cold War Outbreak event, which is currently rewarding cosmetic items.
Operators have two sets of nine objectives to complete: one specific to Warzone and one within the new Outbreak game mode in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. Finishing all nine objectives within a set results in being awarded a Weapon Blueprint.
“The ill-fated passengers of the Vodianoy are said to still be haunting the ship to this day. During the Zombies Outbreak Event, keep your eyes peeled for a familiar computer that is said to bring out these undead, and you may be rewarded for surviving the ensuing assault.”
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Outbreak will be ending in Warzone on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
The official Outbreak end time has been set for 6pm GMT, or 10am PDT if you live in the United States.
It’s unclear if there are any big changes happening this week, although developers Raven Software have hinted that Zombies could start spreading across Verdansk.
The ending of Outbreak would make for the perfect time to add Zombies to other locations, with the Prison and Port close by.
Activision has also started teasing what is coming next, revealing that a reckoning is heading to Verdansk.
Call of Duty Warzone: Activision release trailer for new game
This would lineup with recent rumours that the Warzone map will offer a limited-time mode where gamers have to battle the undead before a nuclear strike devastates the area.
The most recent information shared by Activision adds: “We find ourselves in Season Two, where Verdansk is primed for a reckoning.
“A cursed vessel known as the Vodianoy crash-landed and spilled its otherworldly cargo out into the city, with Operators desperately attempting to contain this new threat within the ship’s hull.
“It seems that after a year of smooth sailing, Warzone may have to prepare for a threat never before seen in Verdansk, and any Operators who wish to survive might need to save the celebration for another time and get back in the fight before it’s too late.
“Once again, thanks to you, the community, for being with us for the past year of Warzone.
“With Season Two’s story continuing through the game’s one-year milestone, we cannot wait to share with you what’s in store for the year to come… but it’ll be better for you to experience it for yourself.”
This week will likely include a new playlist update for Call of Duty Cold War, with a new St. Patrick’s Day-themed Moshpit going live.
The St. Patrick’s Stockpile will allow gamer to collect Shamrocks dropped by their enemies and deliver them to the Pot o’ Gold to earn points for their team, or pick up Shamrocks dropped by eliminated teammates to deny enemies the chance to score. First team to reach the score limit wins in this limited-time mode.
St. Patrick’s Stockpile will be live after the Outbreak event ends, with Face Off moving from Featured Playlists to Quick Play to make room for more modes coming later in Season Two.
