Koei Tecmo’s Dead or Alive 6 may be riding off into the sunset, but that doesn’t mean the game is disappearing. In an effort to get people playing the bouncy brawler, KT will be hosting a bunch of free fighter weeks for the “Core Fighters” edition of Team Ninja’s fighter.
For those unaware, a free-to-play iteration of Dead or Alive 6 dubbed “Core Fighters” was released a month or so after the game launched on all platforms. Containing five characters with the ability to buy the others piecemeal, it’s a decent-ish way to check out if DOA6 is for you. With this free fighter initiative, you’ll be able to test out every character in the game on different weeks to see if they are right for you.
Five characters per week will be available in addition to the five included with the download. The promo kicks off on April 18 with Hayate, La Mariposa, Marie Rose, Nyotengu, and Zack being selectable. The roster then rotates between different combatants until May 17, when the promo concludes.
As lackluster as the main game is, the “Core Fighters” model isn’t something I’m opposed to. For many, a single character is all they need in a fighter and having access to just that is pretty good.
