Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris: New rewards and map news for this week

Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris is launching later today and this week’s rewards will soon be confirmed alongside the latest map selection. Fans have been talking about a declining population for the event, and how Bungie could change things to bring players back. This is likely to happen during Destiny 2 Year 4, with other reward tweaks being planned.

Until then, Trials of Osiris will be launching on schedule today and ending with the Weekly Reset in May.

The development team will be releasing the 3v3 Crucible playlist at around 6pm GMT on May 8, 2020, and returning players will want to visit Saint-14 soon after, who will be located in the Tower Hangar.

The Osiris reset offers a new inventory of Trials Passages, Bounties, and the option to turn in Trials Tokens.

A different map and a fresh set of rewards will be available to Guardians today if they meet the requirements of the 960 Power rating needed to buy Passages.

As ever, Trials fans will earn exclusive rewards by defeating other teams of three, while hoping to gain entry to the Lighthouse.

But gamers will have to wait until Trials of Osiris launches to find out exactly what loot will be available and what map will be featured.

This mode will be available until Tuesday, May 12 and will end before the weekly reset has been completed.

Away from the Trials, there has also been a lot of talk regarding Destiny 2 Year 4 and how rewards will be changing.

This includes Bungie adding a Transmogrification feature to Destiny 2, alongside improvements to the rewards for Aspirational Activities

A message from Bungie explains: “We will be adding a Transmogrification feature to Destiny 2. This will allow players to turn their Armor into Universal Ornaments.

“We plan to allow players to do this with in-game effort OR Silver. “This feature is in early development and is expected sometime during Year 4.”

Commenting on how Raid and Trials rewards will change, Bungie adds: “Going forward, Aspirational Activities will reward players with power, items, and vanity.

“When we build an Aspirational Activity it will have at least one accessory to pursue. The team is working on Adept Weapons for Trials of Osiris.

“Trials will get new Armor (aka not reprisal), accessories, and weapons in Season 13.

“Trials will get new Armor every year. Destiny’s next Raid will have brand new Armor, Weapons, and Exotic Accessories to pursue (no spoilers).”

Bungie has also shared more on what can and cannot change with Trials of Osiris in 2020.

This includes the map rotations, with Bungie adding: “Wait, what? Didn’t I confirm that Trials maps were on a set rotation per season?

“Yeah… I totally did. But that’s the beauty of a live game, things can change. The team has been looking at your feedback daily since Trials launched, and some things are a bit easier to change than others.

“For the foreseeable future, Trials maps will be on a random rotation. If anything changes with those plans, we’ll be sure to let you know.”
