Pokemon Go is an incredible game where you get to bring your favorite animated animals to the real world! It brings a lot of mechanics from the core series, but also makes up plenty of things for itself to keep things fresh. Eggs are a mechanic straight from the video games, though!
Eggs in the game are items you keep in your Party until they hatch into baby Pokemon! The games can track the number of steps you take and hatch the Egg when you've gone far enough. It's the same basic idea in Pokemon Go, except you actually have to do the walking in real life! No need to worry; we'll tell you everything you need to know.

How To Hatch Eggs With Incubators
Eggs are hatched by walking with their Egg while it is in an Incubator. You need to walk a certain number of kilometres in order for the Egg to hatch, and the Egg varieties are broken up by the walking requirement. Once the Egg is in an incubator, you can play Pokemon Go like normal and let it track your steps in the background.
There are three kinds of Incubators:
Incubator | How To Get It | Number Of Uses | Special Abilities |
---|---|---|---|
Incubator (Orange) | You get this Incubator upon creating a Pokemon Go account. | Unlimited | None |
Incubator (Blue) |
|
3 | None |
Super Incubator |
|
3 | You need to walk 33 percent less in order to hatch the Egg. |
Certain events may temporarily decrease the distance you need to walk in order to hatch an Egg.

Every Egg Type And The Pokemon That Hatch From Them
There are a few things you should keep in mind about hatching eggs:
- The catchable Pokemon from any given Egg is determined when the Egg is received and does not change afterwards, even if the relevant event has ended, an event has started, you have moved, etc.
- Ongoing events may alter which Pokemon can hatch from eggs. As we say above, that may cause you to hatch the event Pokemon even if the event has ended. After the event ends, the Pokemon catchable will revert to the list below.
- Regional-Exclusive Pokemon can only hatch from the egg if their egg was received from their respective region. If you walk and hatch the Egg outside that region, you still might get the exclusive Pokemon.
