EA is promising a FIFA 22 reveal for this weekend and has already confirmed who will be on the game’s cover.
It’s that time of year again. While EA Play Live isn’t happening until the end of July, EA intends on formally announcing this year’s FIFA game, unsurprisingly titled FIFA 22, this weekend.
The announcement of an announcement was made via Twitter, with the reveal trailer due to air on YouTube on Sunday, July 11 at 4:30pm BST.
It’s already confirmed who this year’s cover star will be and rather than go with a new player, EA has brought back Kylian Mbappé, the French player who adorned FIFA 21’s cover.
No explanation has been given as to why EA went with Mbappé again, but he is still considered one of the best footballers in the world, so that probably had something to do with it.
But the deal with EA was likely formed way before the Euros even started and they’re hardly going to replace him after one missed penalty.
Considering the reveal trailer is planned for the same day as the Euros finals, with England playing Italy, the timing is obviously intentional on EA’s part. The finals won’t be starting until 8pm so fans have plenty of time to enjoy watching both.
EA is running several presentations throughout the coming weeks, until EA Play Live, with one of them dedicated entirely to its EA Sports games. Even if the reveal trailer on Sunday doesn’t contain too much info EA will likely share further details at the EA Sports presentation on July 20.
Although there’s no chance the game will be anything other than cross-gen, it’s going to be interesting to see how much it takes advantage of the next gen consoles in terms of graphics and features.
