Fortnite adds Gangnam Style nearly 10 years too late

The once insanely popular Gangnam Style dance is now in Fortnite, while some suspect a G.I. Joe crossover is imminent.

Remember Gangnam Style? That dance craze from 2012 that everybody and their grandmother was obsessed with? Epic Games remembers and it’s unexpectedly added it to Fortnite’s item shop as a new emote.

It seems a bit odd for Epic to add it so long after it peaked in popularity but, in its defence, Fortnite didn’t exist back then.

Nowadays, it may actually be nostalgic for some. And since Fortnite now features so many pop culture icons there’s fun to be had making the likes of the Mandalorian, Batman, and Captain America perform the dance.

What’s more, he has updated his location to Arashikage Clan, which is the name of the ninja clan from G.I. Joe. Its most recognisable members are Snake-Eyes, one of the main protagonists, and his more antagonistic brother, Storm Shadow.

Considering Snake-Eyes is one of the most popular characters in the franchise (he’s even supposed to be getting his own movie), it’s a safe bet that he’ll be an unlockable skin in the future.

And as if that wasn’t enough, the official Fortnite Twitter posted another audio log where Jonesy very clearly describes the G.I. Joe team and even ends it with the classic phrase ‘Knowing is half the battle.’ Which seems like a pretty clear cut confirmation at this point.

The current season of Fortnite has certainly doubled down on the crossover characters, with Master Chief, Kratos, the Predator, and the Terminator already among the inclusions.

Fortnite is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
