Fortnite is, unsurprisingly, one step ahead of most other battle royale titles. The game has allowed players to create their own custom maps for a while now, letting the fanbase breath new life into Fortnite while Epic Games works on the bigger picture. It's led to some pretty interesting creations, but one of the weirdest has to be the Fortpex custom island that recently turned heads on Twitter earlier this week.
First shared by Apex Legends YouTuber Cutnoid, the map is pretty much what it sounds like, combining the aesthetics of Apex Legends with the gameplay of Fortnite to create something that will truly confound your brain for a few seconds. Cutnoid shares a video of themselves in the opening few seconds of a match, as they descend down from a paraglider into the heat of battle.
From the nearby building and large crack in the Earth full of magma, we can probably assume that the area that Cutnoid lands in is a recreation of either Fragment West or Fragment East. Cutnoid then races to a weapons chest – like any good battle royale player should – which has been modified to look like the chests from Apex Legends. They then grab a weapon to take down an approaching Xenomorph swingly wildly with a pickaxe, which is a sentence you'll only hear when talking about Fortnite.
Cutnoid explains in the replies that he believes the map is "super well made," and even reveals that players can choose Legends that have different abilities. If you want to try it out for yourself, you can find the Island code by following the link here.
In other Fortnite news, the game is kicking off the new year with a bang by reportedly setting up another virtual concert. We don't know the exact date, but a leak may have revealed that artist Kid LAROI will headline an event at some point later this month.
