Genshin Impact maintenance planned for this week will mean servers going down for several hours as Mihoyo prepares to release another big update.
Genshin 2.2 will be the patch rolling out in October that will add new locations, character banners and weapon events.
Tsurumi Island will be the last to be added to the Inazuma region and is billed as the toughest for explorers to conquer, with dense fog a solid deterrent for outsiders.
Genshin fans will have to find their own way in, with the low visibility causing issues when it comes to navigating the new locations and points of interest.
A message from Mihoyo adds: “New monstrous beasts also lurk in the gloomy mist. The Rifthounds and the Rifthound Whelps are stealthy monsters from the Abyss which can turn invisible, sneaking around for the best opportunity to land a strike in combat.
“Both the Rifthounds and Rifthound Whelps have Electro or Geo attributes. But what makes this species really dangerous is their ability to apply the Corrosion status to enemies.
“When an attack hits a character, all party members will be affected by the Corrosion status and continually lose HP regardless if they’re shielded or not. So beware of the hounds.”
HOW LONG ARE GENSHIN IMPACT SERVERS DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE?
Developers Mihoyo has confirmed that Genshin Impact Maintenance will start at 11pm BST on October 12, and last a total of five hours if everything goes to schedule.
Delays are always possible and the company is known for adding more Primogems to the overall bounty if gamers are stuck waiting longer than they were told for maintenance to end.
The Genshin Impact 2.2 release date time has been set for 4am BST on October 13, across all platforms.
For gamers in North America, the same patch will be going live at 8pm PDT on PS4, PS5, PC and Mobile devices.

A message from Mihoyo adds: “To ensure all Travelers have the best-possible Genshin Impact experience, our developers will soon begin performing update maintenance. After this is complete, the game will update to a new version.
“After Travelers install the new game client, they will be able to continue playing. It is recommended to install the update over a Wi-Fi connection owing to the large file size.
“While the update maintenance is in progress, Travelers will be unable to log in to the game. Please take note of the update time and schedule your game time accordingly to avoid losing your progress. We hope Travelers will bear with us during the disruption.”
The current Maintenance Compensation has been set as 300 Primogems, however, there will be 60 Primogems for every hour the servers are down.
New four-star character, Thoma, will be available after maintenance has been completed, with Mihoyo providing this early description:
“Renowned as the “fixer” in Inazuma, Thoma is also a reliable teammate in combat, providing strong defense and buffs.
“Thoma wields a polearm and holds a Pyro Vision. His Elemental Skill Blazing Blessing can deal AoE Pyro Damage, apply Pyro to himself, and summons a defensive Blazing Barrier. When the Blazing Barrier is active, the amount of Damage Absorption it takes can stack if another Blazing Barrier is obtained again, refreshing its duration as well.
“With his Elemental Burst “Crimson Ooyoroi”, Thoma can help his teammates deal additional Pyro Damage to enemies. He even has a special Talent which grants successful fishing attempts in Inazuma a 20% chance of scoring a double catch.”
