Xbox Game Pass subscribers have been dealt a huge blow this week, as GTA 5 leaves the service.
Grand Theft Auto 5 was removed from Xbox Game Pass on August 8.
While there’s always a chance it will make a return further down the line, subscribers will need to buy the game outright in order to carry on playing right now.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently available for £24.99 on Xbox One.
MORE GTA NEWS: Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Remastered rumours sparked again
That’s for the premium edition, which comes with the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack for GTA Online.
“The Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack is the fastest way for new GTA Online players to jumpstart their criminal empires with the most exciting and popular content plus $1,000,000 bonus cash to spend in GTA Online – all content valued at over GTA$10,000,000 if purchased separately.”
Other versions come with the same single-player and online content, as well as extra in-game cash to spend on upgrades.
If the news of GTA 5 leaving Game Pass has taken you by surprise, it’s also worth noting that six other games are disappearing this weekend.
RETRO GAMING: More of your favourite childhood games could be making a return soon
This includes Ape Out and Crossing Souls on PC, as well as Darksiders Genesis, Don’t Starve, Final Fantasy VII and Train Sim World 2020 on all platforms.
Of course, it’s not all bad news, because new games are joining the Game Pass line-up all of the time.
This includes Sega’s upcoming strategy game Humankind, which will be available on Game Pass for PC when it launches on August 17.
“Humankind is a convergence of culture, history, and values that allows you to create a civilization that is as unique as you are.
“You’ll be re-writing the entire narrative of human history (…no pressure) from its humble beginnings in the Neolithic Era, as you set out to leave the biggest mark on the world.”

The game features more than 60 historical cultures from the Ancient to the Modern Era.
“Each of those cultures will bring a unique layer creating near-endless outcomes. You’ll further customise your civilization with every deed you accomplish and moral choice you make.
“Everything you do builds your fame, and the player with the most fame will win the game.”
Other imminent Game Pass releases include Art of Rally and Hades, which will join the line-up later this week.
