Rockstar may have dropped some new hints about GTA 6 in the Caro Perico Heist – either that or fans are grasping at straws again.
Grand Theft Auto fans are always on the lookout for any clues that may hint at a GTA 6 announcement and arguably there has already been one in the teaser trailer for the Caro Perico Heist update to GTA Online.
If that was a tease it was a well-hidden one but now the update has been released there may be more, although it’s not exactly clear-cut evidence.
One supposed Easter egg involves the Panther Varsity jacket that you’re given for participating in the 100 Billion Heist Challenge, the back of which has the wording Hostes ad pulverem ferire – a phrase last seen on a building in GTA: Vice City.
It has long been rumoured that GTA 6 will see a return to Vice City in some form or other, although there’s never been anything close to real proof.
The building in question is called the Hoarmont Avenue Church, which does seem an odd thing to reference in the Caro Perico Heist, and the phrase reads ‘pulverising the enemy’ in false Latin.
It’s true you don’t make up a phrase like that by accident but whether it’s meant as a genuine tease or just Rockstar purposefully messing with fans is impossible to say.
The other supposed clue is even more of a stretch and involves new character Gustavo, who is wearing a Hawaiian shirt that is very similar to a shirt that Gonzalez wears in Vice City.
That one’s not exactly a smoking gun either but it’s been enough to get fans talking, which either way is good for Rockstar.
GTA 6 has never been officially announced, although Rockstar did recently say that GTA Online will be getting more single-player content.
There have also been believable rumours that work on a new game has begun, but with GTA 5 coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 this year it’s unlikely you’d hear anything about a sequel until after its launch in the second half of the year.
