GTA Online and Red Dead Online will be receiving new updates this summer, with the latter’s coming in only a few days.
As it stands, the only new games fans of Rockstar have to look forward to at the moment are the next gen re-releases of Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online.
While Rockstar is most likely working on Grand Theft Auto 6 (despite not officially confirming it), plenty of effort is still being put into GTA Online and Red Dead Online, with both of their player-bases having increased in the last few months.
Although these games won’t be supported forever, Rockstar clearly has no plans to slow down anytime soon, as it has confirmed that both will be receiving some meaty updates in the future.
For starters, GTA Online will be receiving a whole new location in what is being called the game’s ‘biggest ever update,’ and which will also offer a new take on heists.
Considering how big of a deal the last heist update was, tasking players with robbing a heavily fortified and secured casino, one has to wonder where Rockstar will be taking the heists next or what sort of rewards it will offer.
The casino heist offered three different ways of completing it and rewarded those who completed it with upwards of $2.1 million of in-game cash.
This update won’t be coming out for a while, although Rockstar has said it will be out before the end of the year and a separate summer update is coming much sooner, which Rockstar says will offer a ‘fun mix of diverse new content from the game’s massive array of experiences to enjoy.’
As for Red Dead Online, it will be getting a massive update of its own in only a few days, on Tuesday, 28 July, and includes a new Outlaw Pass and several community-requested features and fixes.
The big addition, though, is a new nature-focused Frontier Pursuit, aka a new character class/role for players to experience, which will ‘introduce players to the secrets of naturalism.’
There’s no word on what this new role is or what it’ll be like, but we can expect it to come with its own unique skills and items, similar to the other roles. The best guess is it’ll maybe be a Hunter role, judging by the accompanying image.
Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Online are available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
