Incredible PS5 gameplay visuals REVEALED ahead of next-gen PlayStation event

PS5 pre-order customers have been given a shock look at next-gen gameplay visuals.

With the official PS5 reveal expected to take place later this month, one company has spilled the beans early on what fans can expect from the console powerhouse.

In screenshots revealed by Daedalic Entertainment, Lord of the Rings fans can take a look at Gollum for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The next-gen game shifts the focus to a supporting character in the saga, as Gollum takes centre stage.

As you can see from the screenshots below, the Gollum video game spinoff is shaping up to be a stunner.

The PS5 gameplay visuals give us a glimpse at the spectacular environments, as well as the lead character.

One of the gameplay screens even features a look at the internal conflict going on inside Gollum’s head.

It’s possible we’ll see the game in action during this week’s Xbox Series X gameplay reveal on May 7.

Developed by Daedalic Entertainment, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was actually revealed back in March 2019.

However, it has since been confirmed that the new Lord of the Rings game will launch for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

As you can see from the next-gen screenshots, Gollum looks a little different to the version from the movie trilogy.

“Tolkien didn’t give a size reference for Gollum to begin with,” art director Mathias Fischer explained. “So in the first illustrations, he’s gigantic! He’s like a monster emerging from the swamp.”

The dual personality gameplay will manifest in decisions players must make towards the end of each chapter.

“You will have maybe two, three or four conflicts per chapter that lead to a final decision point,” the post continues. “And at this final decision point, it will be harder to pick Sméagol, for example, if you’ve always fought for the Gollum side before.”

Interestingly, Daedalic Entertainment has signed up to develop and publish multiple Lord of the Rings releases.

The initial release will be powered by Unreal Engine, and will also benefit from that next-gen technology.

The PS5, for example, will support 8K resolution, ray-tracing technology and have much faster loading times.

The speedy (or non-existent) loading times are possible thanks to the specialised solid-state drive, which will make a huge difference to processing speeds.
