Knockout City Is Now Free-To-Play

The hit competitive dodgeball game Knockout City has gone free-to-play, breaking off from EA—you can pick it up on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC right now.

This ties into the launch of Season 6: City of Tomorrow, which adds the Boomerang Ball, Starfruit Special energy drink, a new career contract, map updates, and the sci-flyer vehicle. There's also a new Brawl Pass with free and premium tiers, so you can get right into unlocking cosmetics to style your dodgeball champion.

What's more, you don't need a PS Plus, Nintendo Switch Online, or Xbox Live subscription to play online, making Knockout City free-to-play through and through. But if you're one of the many who bought the game before it went free-to-play or unlocked it through PS Plus' freebies or another service, then you'll be rewarded with the Loyalty Royalty Bundle.

The theme of Season 6 is the Super Science Symposium which has arrived in Knockout City alongside "a massive haul of super-science themed cosmetics to earn and buy." With the Brawl Pass, there's a wealth of outfits, trophies, poses, and Holobux to earn, enough to buy the next season's Brawl Pass much as last time.

As for the new Boomerang Ball, it is now available in the Street Play, League Play, and Private Match playlists—it works much like a basic ball but, if it hits a player, another ball, or level geometry, it'll return to you with the throw type you used.

The Hideout has also implemented a new rooftop with more space to play around in, a soccer ball you can play with, five basketball hoops, and more parkour elements. You can read the full list of patch notes on Knockout City's official Reddit post.
