Lawyer Up, The Tabletop Game That Encourages Arguing With Friends

If you ever wanted to play a tabletop version of Law and Order, Lawyer Up seems to be pretty much it.

Say what you will about the litigiousness nature of Americans, but you gotta admit that it has created some pretty great television drama. It’s also created this neat looking asymmetrical card game called Lawyer Up from Delaware-based Rock Manor Games.

In Lawyer Up, one player plays the defense team while the other plays the state prosecutor. The goal, as in any trial, is to convince the jury that the defendant is either innocent or guilty, depending which side you’re on. To do that, you’ll draft vital evidence during the Discovery Phase, try to build your case and make arguments during the Trial Phase, and then finally influence the Jury enough to make them decide in your favor.

Your arguments need to be coherent, so they must have matching symbols, Witnesses can also be examined and cross-examined, with certain jurors being biased towards certain arguments. There are a lot of cards, dials, and objection tokens–everything that you’d find in a real trial.

The Kickstarter is currently at $136,655 of an initial $14,000 goal after being funded in less than 2 hours. They’ve also unlocked 15 stretch goals that include backstory cards, new case expansions, and a solo mode.

There are 6 days left to get in on Lawyer Up, with “friendly shipping” to Canada, the UK, EU, USA, and Australia, with less friendly shipping available everywhere else.
