In honor of April Fool’s Day, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is adding a mischievous new item – the Whoopee Cushion. The hilarious piece of furniture not only acts as a chair, but also produces the expected farting sound effect when a player sits down.
The Whoopee Cushion is available in the Special Goods section of Nook Shopping. It launched earlier this week and will stick around until April 1. The prankster’s favorite gadget comes in red, yellow, and green, and produces several different farting sound effects when a victim plops down. It’s probably one of the strangest items to come to Animal Crossing since it launched, although it’s clearly going to become one of the most popular.
Animal Crossing has been busy in the early months of 2021. Beyond launching the Whoopee Cushion, Nintendo recently released the Island Tour Creator software – giving you the ability to create promotional posters and videos for your islands. The neat feature is only compatible with smartphones, but can link with your Twitter account to easily access in-game photos and gameplay clips you’ve transferred to the service.
Then there are the Sanrio Collaboration Pack amiibo cards, which bring exclusive content from Hello Kitty to the world of Animal Crossing. The packs are available exclusively at Target – and have become a hot commodity within the community.
It hasn’t all been bright and shiny news for Animal Crossing, however, as the title was recently beat out by Sackboy: A Big Adventure for Best Family Game at the BAFTAs. Still, New Horizons was able to leave the ceremony with Best Multiplayer Game and Best Game Beyond Entertainment awards.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will have the flatulence-inducing Whoopee Cushion for sale until April 1.
