Open world Zombies mode coming to Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War claims leak

A new Zombies mode called Outbreak is allegedly coming to Black Ops Cold War this year, based on using large scale Fireteam maps.

Zombies mode has been a part of Call Of Duty for over a decade now and, to be honest, it’s beginning to show its age.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War did what it could to revitalise the game mode, sharing progression and loadouts with the multiplayer mode and adding an exfil option, but it’s still basically the same experience it’s always been.

That may change with a new open world mode called Outbreak though, which leakers on Twitter and Reddit claim is coming to the game later this year.

According to Twitter user Okami, who’s proven accurate in the past, the mode will use a large scale Fireteam map and is apparently coming ‘soon’.

The start of season 2 is February 24 but that seems a bit too soon, given the mode has never been officially mentioned before. More likely it’ll be released mid-season or for season 3 – if the rumours are true.

Zombies were added to the open world map of Blackout, the battle royale mode for Black Ops 4, which was also by Treyarch and so may end up as an inspiration for Outbreak.

For the moment though, Treyarch’s attention is on fixing problems with League Play, which they’ve already apologised for and is the focus of the game’s most recent patch.
