Watch Dogs: Legion is arriving very soon for next gen consoles, and Ubisoft may already be planning to re-release the first game.
With Watch Dogs: Legion still to release on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and plenty of big plans for post-launch DLC, fans of the series still have a lot to look forward to.
One major part of the DLC is the inclusion of Aiden Pearce, the hacker protagonist of the first Watch Dogs game.
But it sounds like that’s not the only way Aiden is making a return, as it seems that the first game is coming to next gen consoles as well.
First spotted by GamesRadar, the ESRB listing for Watch Dogs: Complete Edition (the version that includes all the DLC and extra content), has been updated to mention the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
This also extends to the Users Interact and In-Game Purchases sections of the listing, which very much indicates that this isn’t a simple mistake.
The question now is when the game will actually release for next gen consoles. It’s also unclear what sort of benefits players can expect from these new versions (improved frame rates, visuals, etc.) and if anyone who bought Watch Dogs: Complete Edition for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One will be entitled to a free upgrade.
Originally released in 2014, Watch Dogs was very different to the most recent entry, as you only had one playable character, Aiden, who embarks on a mission in Chicago to get revenge for his niece’s death.
While it makes some sense to re-release the first game, it’s a shame that there are so far no plans to do the same for Watch Dogs 2, which was not only considerably better than the first but also the third.
Watch Dogs: Legion is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia. It will release for Xbox Series X/S on November 10 and for PlayStation 5 on November 12.
