- What Happens If You Don't Pay Off The Blood Debt?
The second quest that you will come across in Outward is to pay off your Blood Debt for the quest Call To Adventure. This timed task gives you five days to either gather 150 silver or obtain a Writ of Tribal Favor. Although the time limit on this quest can be daunting, it's quite simple to finish if you know what to do.
In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to pay off your Blood Debt. This will be split into two sections; paying the silver or obtaining the writ. First, let's take a look at how to obtain a Writ of Tribal Favor to pay off the Blood Debt.
Writ Of Tribal Favor
The Writ of Tribal Favor can be obtained through several quests as you progress through the game. For the Call To Adventure quest, you will be able to obtain one from Michel Aberdeen. Let's go through this process below.
Michel Aberdeen Location
Michel is not located in Cierzo; instead, you will need to head through the Cierzo Storage. In this storage area, you can find Troglodyte enemies, as well as a cliff that can be jumped from.
This jump will bring you to a beach area, where you can find Michel Aberdeen.
It's important to know that once you jump from this cliff, you will not be able to climb back up. Instead, you will need to go all the way around to the main gate of Cierzo.
Doing A Favor For Michel
When you find Michel, he will be injured. To obtain the Writ of Tribal Favor, you will need to give him either a Bandage or a Life Potion.
Bandages can be purchased from vendors in Cierzo. They are not too expensive and only cost three silver. You can also purchase the two linen clothes for one silver each and make your own bandages from the crafting menu.
Life Potions are a bit more pricey, costing 25 silver. If you want to buy this item, you can find it from Helmi the Alchemist in Cierzo.
Once you give him one of these two items, Michel Aberdeen will give you a Writ of Tribal Favor, which can then be taken to Rissa Aberdeen to pay off your Blood Debt.
Although this task for Michel Aberdeen is optional, he will die if you do not help him. Additionally, if you wait too long to give him the bandage or potion, he will die.
Collecting Silver
If obtaining a Writ of Tribal Favor doesn't interest you, you can also save up 150 silver. There are a few quick methods to save up this much silver, so let's take a look at them.
Looting Cierzo
First, you should visit every building and area in Cierzo. You will be able to loot everything that you see, and then resell it. Although this is technically stealing, there are no consequences. You may be able to find valuable items, such as potions, equipment, and gear that sell for high prices. You can also venture out into Chersonese and loot bandits, as well as chests that occasionally appear.
Fishing
Another great way to obtain the silver to pay off your Blood Debt is to fish. You can purchase a fishing harpoon for just 20 silver, or find one laying around town. With this tool in your inventory, simply approach fish in the water and interact with it. This will cause you to stab the water, catching fish and other unique items.
You may even manage to get Blue Sand, which sells for 14 silver.
Helen's Fungus
Lastly, we recommend completing the Helen's Fungus side quest. For this quest, you will need to head to Blister Burrow and obtain the Mushroom Shield. This can then be taken back to Helen Turnbull, and she will reward you with 70 silver. For more information on this quest, be sure to check out our walkthrough of Helen's Fungus.
What Happens If You Don't Pay Off The Blood Debt?
The Blood Debt can be paid off very quickly, but what happens if you don't pay it in the five-day period?
If you don't pay the Blood Debt, you will lose access to the Lighthouse in Cierzo, which serves as your home. Fortunately, this can be repurchased from Rissa Aberdeen.
To get your Lighthouse back, you will need to pay 300 silver. This is double the price of the Blood Debt, so it may be in your best interest to pay the debt as soon as possible.
That's all there is to know about paying off your Blood Debt! This quest may feel a bit constraining, but once it is complete, you can venture out of Cierzo and into Chersonese.
