Today begins Pokemon Go’s Lunar New Year celebrations with lots of rare Pokemon, shiny Pokemon, and special Field Research and Time Research tasks.
From now until February 7 at 8 PM local time, Pokemon Go players will have an increased chance to become Lucky Friends with someone on their friends list and for traded Pokemon to be Lucky as well. Combined with the 2X EXP you'll earn from evolving Pokemon and the double Stardust received from Gifts, now might be the best time to power up your team with a few trades.
In the wild, Paras, Meowth, Growlithe, Voltorb, Hisuian Voltorb, Magikarp, Torchic, and Litleo will be more common to find. All but Hisuian Voltorb could be Shiny if you're lucky, with Shiny Litleo making its debut in Pokemon Go during the Lunar New Year event.
Electabuzz, Gyarados, and Combusken are also possible finds in the wild, although less common than the previous eight Pokemon.
One-Star Raids will feature Magikarp, Shinx, Darumaka, Litleo, and Espurr, while Three-Star Raids will feature Charizard, Flareon, Shuckle, Delcatty, Absol, and Druddigon. Five-Star Raids will feature Regirock that is guaranteed to know the Earthquake attack, and Mega Raids will feature Mega Houndoom.
Eggs obtained during the Lunar New Year event will be 7 km and be either Shuckle, Slugma, Darumaka, Scraggy, or Litleo.
Field Research Task Encounters will feature Alolan Meowth, Galarian Meowth, Magikarp, Darumaka, Litleo, and Espurr. Completing Field Research Tasks will grant trainers Mega Gyarados Energy for all those Gyarados they'll be catching in the wild.
Finally, special Timed Research challenges will focus on catching wild Pokemon and friendship. Rewards include Litleo and Espurr, with a chance for both to be shiny.
Pokemon Go’s Lunar New Year event is on now and lasts until February 7 at 8 PM local time.
