Smash Bros Steve release date reveal: Live stream start time, SSB Ultimate Minecraft DLC

Smash Bros Steve was the surprise announcement this week, with Nintendo Switch fans finding out on Thursday that the Minecraft builder is heading to SSBU. A brief – but delightful – YouTube broadcast announced Steve as the next character that will be available in Super Smash Bros Ultimate Fighters Pass 2. Steve isn’t the only Minecraft character heading to Smash Bros, with Alex, Zombie and Enderman also making their way to the hit Nintendo Switch fighter.

A release date for the Smash Bros Steve DLC hasn’t been announced yet, but all will be revealed shortly.

Nintendo has announced a 45 minute Minecraft stream that will be taking place this weekend, where the Smash Bros Steve release date will be announced.

The stream will air on Saturday October 3 with a start time of 3.30pm BST.

The news was announced by the Nintendo of Europe Twitter who posted: “Shortly before Minecraft Live, tune in 03/10 at 16:30 CEST to find out about the next #SmashBrosUltimate DLC fighter, #Minecraft’s Steve & Alex, including the release date!

“Join Masahiro Sakurai for a roughly 45 minute-long livestream, filmed in his home.”

The @NintendoEurope Twitter added: “There will be no further new fighter reveals in this livestream.”

Steve is the second character that features in Fighters Pass 2, with four more to go for Smash Bros FP2.

The previous DLC character for Smash Bros was Min Min from Arms, who launched Fighters Pass 2 back in June.

Overall Steve is DLC character 7, with the original Fighters Pass featuring five additional brawlers.

Fighters Pass 1 had an eclectic mix of characters from Nintendo IPs as well as from third-party properties.

The fighters included in FP1 were Persona 5’s Joker, Dragon Quest’s Hero, N64 icons Banjo & Kazooie, SNK legend Terry Bogard and Fire Emblem’s Byleth.

It remains to be seen who will be the remaining characters that get added to Smash Bros with Fighters Pass 2 – which is the final DLC season for SSBU.

There have been plenty of rumours circulating around who could feature in other challenger packs for Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

Rumoured additions include Ninja Gaiden’s Ryu Hayabusa, Doomguy, Devil May Cry’s Dante and Sora from Kingdom Hearts.

While, as always, rumours will swirl around whether Waluigi or Geno will get added to Smash until Nintendo finally adds these much-demanded characters.

All of the Fighters Pass 2 characters are scheduled to release in Smash before the end of 2021, so we have a while left to get excited about potential incoming additions.
