Stray WIll Be Free For PS Plus Premium Subscribers, Launching July 19

Stray is launching July 19, confirming a PlayStation database leak spotted on May 26. Previously, we only knew that the game was coming "this summer." What's more, if you're subscribed to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus – Deluxe or Premium depend=ing on what region you're in – you'll get the game for no added cost on day one. Pre-orders for the game are also live on Steam.

It's good to see the game coming to PS Plus on day one at no extra cost. PlayStation will not be following in Xbox's footsteps and offering day one launches of its first-party games, as it believes this will affect quality, but at least the company is open to launching third-party titles on the new service.

In Stray, you play as a cat who has fallen into a world inhabited by robots, viruses, and machines and have to try to find your way home. It's being developed by BlueTwelve Studio and is being published by Annapurna Interactive.

Stray is rated 12+ in Korea due to some mild violence that we got a taste of in the new trailer. We can see the orange tabby cat running away from angry floating robots firing what look like blaster bolts at the poor kitty. It also has a robot companion on its back that helps it talk to friendly shopkeeper robots, so they're not all bad.

We also got a look at the impressive cyberpunk city the game is set in. There are many ways for the kitty to get around, including sneaking through vermin-infested sewers, nimbly climbing up onto signs and beams, and even riding in a cute little bucket zipline.

Tonight's State of Play was the first event of the Summer Game Fest, and there's a lot more to come. A Bethesda and Xbox joint show, a Gotham Knights reveal, and dozens of other partnered studios and publishers will be taking part, even Netflix. We might even get a Death Stranding 2 reveal if this picture of Hideo Kojima and Geoff Keighley on a Zoom call together is anything to go by.
