Nintendo of Europe has announced a new coral coloured Switch Lite model that will go on sale April 24, 2020.
This new model was previously confirmed to launch in Japan and the US, but a European release was left somewhat up in the air.
"As the winter weather turns to spring colours, the perfect gaming accompaniment arrives in Europe on 24 th April, when the new coral Nintendo Switch Lite console launches across the region" a Nintendo spokesperson said.
As it stands the Nintendo Switch Lite is already available in yellow, turquoise, and grey, but the addition of a coral colour will add a welcome fourth colour palette making the handheld even more desirable.
To date, worldwide Switch shipments have exceeded 52 million units (Via VGC ) since the original Nintendo Switch launched back in March 2017.
Of this, the Switch Lite is widely believed to contribute to just over five million of the overall number of systems sold worldwide.
"Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa told investors in November 2019 that Switch Lite is attracting a higher percentage of female first-time buyers than the flagship model did prior to the handheld’s release," VGC again points out.
Whether this addition of a pink design increases the number of Switch Lite purchases in the female demographic will be interesting to see.
Either way, it's great for everyone involved.
