Swords Of Legends MMO Getting Western Release Later This Year

Gameforge is partnering with Wangyuan Shengtang & Aurogon to bring the popular Chinese MMORPG – Gu Jian Qi Tan Online – to a western audience later this year. The game will be retitled Swords of Legends Online and is expected to be a remastered and improved version of the MMO currently available in the east.

Swords of Legends Online will be available for PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the official Gameforge client. The title is currently up for pre-order, with three versions for sale – ranging from $39.99 to $99.99. Pre-orders include various cosmetics and access to the closed beta.

“When I first encountered Swords of Legends Online, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the dazzling and unique visuals, captivating story, and compelling gameplay,” said Tomislav Perkovic, Chief Product Officer at Gameforge. “I knew that we had to immediately bring this enthralling title to a broader community of players in other regions.”

Swords of Legends Online examines the “eons-long clash between the forces of light and darkness.” In typical MMO fashion, you’ll unravel a winding narrative as you unlock new powers and challenge a variety of demonic bosses. Here are a few of the features Swords of Legends Online will offer:

  • Fully-voiced cutscenes
  • An expansive world based on Chinese legends and folklore
  • Six playable classes – Reaper, Summoner, Bard, Spellsword, Berserker, and Spearmaster – each with two further specializations
  • Customizable floating islands used as personal housing
  • Endgame content including dungeons, 20-player raids, and various PvP modes

Gameforge isn’t a stranger to western ports of popular titles. The studio previously worked on AION, Tera, and Metin 2 – so we’re hopeful Swords of Legends Online is in good hands. Its title seems a bit generic – maybe even a bit like a bad mobile game knockoff – but the list of content in Swords of Legends is intriguing.

There’s no shortage of popular MMOs on the market, with World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 14, Elder Scrolls Online, and Black Desert Online all pulling in massive player counts every month. Gameforge will need to create something special if Swords of Legends wants to stand out against these impressive games.
