This Week’s New Releases (4/12-4/18)

After 6 straight weeks of major new releases, we’ve finally hit a lull that will continue on until Ghosts Of Tsushima releases June 26th. There are still plenty of games to be excited about in the meantime, but nothing on the level of Final Fantasy VII RemakeAnimal Crossing New Horizons, or DOOM Eternal. This week brings an important update to Fallout 76 and a highly anticipated indie game called A Fold Apart.

Fallout 76: Wastelanders is a title update for the much-maligned MMO game. It was originally scheduled to release on the 7th, but in an effort to ensure this game is never without problems, the release was pushed back to the 14th. It’s a major update that fans of both 76 and single-player Fallout will be interested in. NPC characters will appear in the game for the first time. Wastelanders will introduce a new main questline, as well as new weapons, enemy types, and a new reputation system. The title update coincides with the Steam launch of 76, and will be included as a free update for anyone that purchases the game.

Wastelanders has already stirred up a bit of controversy this week when it was announced that new no-build zones across the map will force players to find a new place to set up camp. The incoming NPCs have claimed eminent domain apparently, so if your base happens to be in one of their spots, you’ll need to pack up and move.

Luckily, Bethesda has promised that they’ll be waiving the relocation fee for anyone who’s camp is affected by the update. With anything in Fallout 76 though, there’s no guarantee that things will work out the way Bethesda claims.

For current players, Bethesda is offering two new bundles: the Raider Content Bundle, and the Settler Content Bundle, each packed with outfits, skins, and other cosmetic items for $19.99 USD.

A Fold Apart is a papercraft-style puzzle game about the challenges of making a long-distance relationship work. The game was developed by Lightning Rod Games and looks to be a thought-provoking and emotionally charged experience. We’ll have our full review this week when it releases on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Apple Arcade.
