This week’s new releases include some really unique tactics games, some highly anticipated Switch ports, and a sentimental platformer looking to give Celeste a run for it’s money.
John Wick Hex is coming to Switch and PS4 this Tuesday. When Hex first released on PC back in October, it was surprising to see the highspeed action film reimagined as a methodical tactics game. In his review, Jamie said that it might not feel like a definitive John Wick experience, but that the game should be lauded for trying to something unique.

If you can’t get enough tactics between XCOM: Chimera Squad, John Wick Hex, and Gears Tactics, check out Wintermoor Tactics Club. Wintermoor is a “cozy tactics RPG” that follows a group of student at a private school enveloped in a massive snowball tournament. Wintermoor Tactics Club will be available Tuesday on PC.
Last year’s Xbox-exclusive Void Bastards is coming to PS4 and Switch on Thursday. The “strategy-shooter” draws inspiration from games like Bioshock and System Shock too but with a more tongue-in-cheek- attitude. Jamie loved Void Bastards when he reviewed it last June, calling it an addictive adrenaline rush. Void Bastards is also available on Game Pass for PC.
Emma: Lost in Memories is a new 2d platformer coming to PS4 this Friday. The SandBloom Studio game has a unique premise: as Emma jumps, slides, and wall climbs through each stage, every surface she touches quickly fades away. The puzzle-platformer is definitely looking to capitalize on the popularity of gameplay and emotional resonance of Celeste.
Spirit of the North originally released on PS4 last November, but now it’s coming to PC and Switch this Thursday. In this third-person adventure game, you play as a red fox in a story rooted in Nordic folklore. Jamie reviewed Spirit of the North back in November, and noted that while the game is often wonderful and relaxing, the puzzles and platforming didn’t particularly hold his attention very well.
