Even though VALORANT is still in it’s closed-beta phase, that hasn’t stopped it from already growing a solid reputation for it’s competitive implications moving forward. Everything points to a hit for Riot Games including a already blossoming esports scene which has the potential to be huge.
VALORANT has been touted as a game-changing, highly competitive tactical FPS and everything is starting to fall in place ahead of its official launch this summer as new details emerged regarding the game’s ranked play.
In some exciting news, it looks like ranked play for VALORANT is coming sooner than some might have expected. No definitive date for ranked play has been announced, but it will be included in the upcoming 0.49 patch which might be coming within the next couple of weeks. The development team has already been active working on VALORANT after releasing a patch recently addressing some issues that have been seen early in game.
VALORANT‘s competitive ladder will consist of eight different levels of rank divided into three tiers starting with Iron and working up all the way to VALORANT rank. The VALORANT rank will only have one tier, consisting of the top players in the world. Players will be able to unlock competitive mode by playing 20 unrated matches. If players don’t play a competitive match within 14 days, their rank won’t be displayed, but there will not be any decay to their rank if not played and players can queue with up to 5-player parties. An interesting thing to note is the closed-beta rank will not carry over once the game is officially launched.
VALORANT will be taking the competitive aspect seriously, rewarding players who put in the effort to climb the ladder and trying to deter those who ruin the experience for others. This could come from smurf accounts, cheaters, throwers, etc… Riot Games has proven to make highly competitive and successful games and VALORANT looks to be no different. Once ranked mode comes out, players will finally have the chance to see where they really stack up.
