It seems Microsoft is preparing yet another re-design for the Xbox dashboard. Specifically, the Xbox Store is apparently getting a major overhaul as part of a new firmware update in the future.
Codenamed “Project Mercury” according to Thurott, the re-design initially leaked via screenshots posted by @wincommunity on Twitter. The images and video showcase the app running on PC, but noted Microsoft insider Brad Sams says this is an update for Xbox, not Windows.
Sams got his hands on the new Xbox Store re-design, and you can check out the video below to see it in action. It looks sleek and easy to use, which is good considering the Xbox dashboard has historically been known to be somewhat unwieldy.

Microsoft has said the Xbox Series X will feature new on-board software, but whether or not this new Xbox Store look is part of that remains to be seen. GameSpot has contacted Microsoft in an attempt to get more details.
The Xbox Series X is slated to release later this year, despite ongoing concerns about COVID-19. Microsoft’s Xbox 20/20 event for June will focus on the console itself, according to VentureBeat, but whether or not plans have changed due to the unrest in the world remains to be seen. In July, Microsoft will hold another Xbox 20/20 event focused on first-party games, including Halo Infinite.
