Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Special Edition Pre-Orders Selling For $300 On eBay

The second wave of pre-orders for Xenoblade Chronicles 3's special edition went live in the US this week. The first wave proved so popular it crashed Nintendo's website, and little changed for round two. The same thing happened again, and now many of those preorders have found their way onto eBay for inflated prices.

The quick appearance of the special edition version of the game, which comes with a steelbook case and an artbook, on eBay was first highlighted by VGC. The listings range from $200 all the way up to $350, and in some cases a little more once you factor in postage and packaging. That's almost four times what they were retailing for through the Nintendo store when they went on sale, costing just $89.99.

Xenoblade fans who didn't manage to land a special edition preorder the first time around in the US thanks to Nintendo's site failing under the pressure were hopeful things would be different. Unfortunately, the only change Nintendo appears to have made between now and then is limiting customers to one copy each as opposed to two. That hasn't helped, and even though some people are being asked to wait, the special edition seems to have already sold out again.

There has been no word from Nintendo on whether there will be a third wave of preorders. American Xenoblade fans have been annoyed further when learning that preorders have been left open in Japan, and Nintendo simply plans to fill as many orders as needed. It has made it clear that the wait might be a long once since the special edition of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is clearly in high demand.

The silver lining to all of this is still that Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be here before the end of the month, well ahead of schedule. We've all become so accustomed to games being delayed these past few years, having one moved forward was a very pleasant surprise. The reveal that the new Xenoblade will be getting some extensive DLC also went down well. The additional content will be made up of four parts launching between its release date and the end of 2023.
