Yakuza: Like A Dragon’s PS5 release is not only coming much later, but seemingly only the digital PS4 version can be upgraded for free.
Sega has finally confirmed when its upcoming role-playing game, Yakuza: Like A Dragon, will release on PlayStation 5.
Unfortunately, PS5 owners will have to wait much longer than everyone else, as it’s releasing on March 2, 2021.
This is four months after the now revised release date of November 10 for all the other platforms, including the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, which come out on the same day.
While Sega doesn’t explicitly state that physical PS5 versions can’t be upgraded, it doesn’t mention them at all either.
This has already sparked confusion and frustration amongst fans, with many asking Sega to clarify further.
This could hurt the PS5’s image in some fans’ eyes, especially as this follows the news that the Spider-Man remaster isn’t being offered as a free upgrade to those who bought the original PS4 game.
This also drew plenty of criticism from fans and even Microsoft saw an opportunity to mock Sony over it.
Yakuza: Like A Dragon will release on November 10 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will release on March 2, 2021 for PlayStation 5.
