Zelter Devs Share Five Crafting Tips For Surviving The Zombie Apocalypse Sim

Adorably cute zombie apocalypse survival simulator Zelter is quickly approaching its Steam Early Access launch date, so developer G1 Playground and publisher Super.com have kindly shared a few vital survival tips to help you prepare. The survival tips focus on items that you should craft as quickly as you can once you get into the Early Access phase to help keep you alive throughout your gameplay.

The dev-team recommended survival tips cover five crafting items that are crucial to your long-term Zelter survival plan: Defensive Tools, Food, Storage, Weapons, and the Workbench. Crafting in Zelter is just as important, and in many ways more important, as zombie fighting and killing. Employing these survival tips and making them a habit in your daily survival plan will help you establish a solid home fortress and supply production line.

Defensive Tools

  • Keep your home perimeter well-protected with fences, traps, and gun turrets.

They mostly come out at night. Mostly. When the sun goes down and daylight disappears, the freaks (zombies) come out and will often surround your home, testing your home’s perimeter for weaknesses and a way to get in. Building active and passive deterrents will allow you and your companions to get that necessary rest at night. And while you’re away from your home on supply runs, they will keep your companions and supplies safe with no one there to directly monitor zombie activity.

Food

  • Plant gardens to grow your own food.

Scavenging food and water during the zombie apocalypse will be at best an uncertain prospect. Planting your own garden to grow and cook your own food is by far the most secure way to help ensure your survival. Cooked foods will provide you with much more of a boost than scavenged foods will, and having a drink of your own fresh water while away from your home will provide an instant refreshing burst of energy right when you need it.

Storage

  • Build a drawer to store items in.

A drawer is the first storage item you can craft, so craft one as soon as possible. You will be equipped with a backpack, but its storage space is limited, and only you have access to it. By building storage items, such as drawers and chests, you’ll be able to increase the number of items you can store in your home, as well as allow access to your NPC companions access to the stored items when they need them.

Weapons

  • Gather stone. Gather wood. Make axe.

It goes without saying, but you will need lots and lots of weapons in order to survive. But you’ll need to start by crafting a simple axe quickly. An axe doubles as a resource gathering tool, so you can obtain and craft better weapons, along with the tools needed to make them, as you progress through the game.

Workbench

  • Build a workbench to craft better, more complex items.

When you start in Zelter, you’ll be able to craft simple tools and weapons by hand. But if you really want to survive long-term, you’ll want a workbench to make better tools and weapons as soon as possible.

“Use your skills to craft tools for survival and defense, start a farm, and head out into the world to scavenge supplies while saving lives. Zombies will come for you eventually — so prepare yourself and your home by getting your defenses ready and your machine gun turrets fully loaded.”

Zelter is currently scheduled to bite into Steam’s Early Access on October 22, 2020. You can shamble along with the game through the official website and its Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Reddit, YouTube, and Discord channels.
