Here's The Very First Physical PS5 Game, According To Gearbox

Many questions about the PlayStation 5, particularly the look of its user interface, remain unknown. However, PS5-adjacent news continues to trickle out. Case in point, Gearbox Software’s CEO has what he said is the first PlayStation 5 game to ever be manufactured

Randy Pitchford took to Twitter to share several photos of what he claims is the first PlayStation 5 game pressed on a physical Blu-ray disc. He’s holding a PS5 copy of Godfall, the new Gearbox Software-published game dubbed a “looter-slasher.”

There are several key takeaways from the back of the box, particularly when it comes to playing Godfall. The box lists that there’s no offline mode, PlayStation Plus is required for network features, and the game takes up at least 50 GB of storage space.

While PlayStation Plus is required to play online with friends, the official Godfall Twitter account clarified that an online subscription is not necessary to play solo.

The description on the back of Godfall’s box also indicates vibration function and trigger effects are supported, meaning Godfall takes advantage of DualSense’s sensory features.

Gearbox has been showing a lot of Godfall in the lead-up to its November 12 launch on PC and PlayStation 5. This includes an in-depth look at the game’s cooperative play and weapon classes, as well as a cinematic trailer that sets up Godfall’s narrative.
